De-escalation + Self Protection (Hybrid Seminars)
We can remain calm and work hard to de-escalate a situation, but sometimes, the other person escalates to physical violence.
Unfortunately in this day and age, this is happening to front line workers more frequently.
Our Hybrid Seminars blend verbal de-escalation and physical self-protection.
Attendees will learn:
Environmental awareness
How to read the subtleties of threatening behaviour
Understand how to use fear to their advantage
Basic self-defence principles
To reduce the risk of personal injury if the situation does escalate to physical violence.
When things get tense, would you know what to say, and what to do next?
Our Hybrid Seminars blend verbal de-escalation and physical self-protection, giving you the tools to stay safe while keeping others safe too.
This unique training is ideal for:
Support workers
Security personnel
Youth workers
Healthcare and education staff
Individuals wanting practical personal safety skills
No martial arts experience needed, just a willingness to learn.
Why do we call it “Self-Protection,” Not “Self-Defence”?
Traditional self-defence often kicks in after the danger starts. In many instance there is reference to, and / or teaching of counter strikes.
So although having their place, many forms of self-defence are ‘offensive’ by nature.
At De-escalation Tasmania, we teach self-protection, a proactive approach that combines:
Situational awareness
Verbal de-escalation techniques
Non-aggressive physical responses
Our goal is always to avoid violence where possible, and minimize harm when it isn’t.
What You’ll Learn
From years of frontline experience and the teachings of world leaders in the arts of negotiation and de-escalation, attendees will learn:
How to calm an agitated person using body language and tone of voice

How to create space and exit safely
Plus:
